On Thursday, August 13th the NC Tech Tigers took on Jireh Prep to open up the 2009 season and came
away with a 36-0 victory. Darius Thomas led the way for the Tigers, going 16 for 22 for over 230 yards and a Touchdown. Deschion
Baskerville also had a big night, racking up 84 yards rushing on 10 attempts and one Touchdown. The Tigers had over 500 yards
of total offense in the victory.
Not to be outdone, the Defense pitched its fifth
straight shutout against Jireh Prep, forcing six turnovers, and tackling Jireh players 20 times for loss yards. Jeff Parish
had the play of the night as he returned an interception 80 yards for a Touchdown.
