Michael Morand
2006 Assistant Head Coach
Offensive
Coordinator, and Recruiting Coodinator
Coach Morand moved on to Viginia State as Offensive Coordinator. While
at Viginia State, he lead the team to becoming the #2 rated offense in the CIAA. Coach Morand was accepted into
the College Football Coaches Academy. Out of 150 applicants only 20 were acccepted to this prestigious academy to be
groomed as college head coaches.
In Coach Newman's words, Coach Morand is very loyal and understands what loyalty
means in this business. He will someday, definately be a college head coach.
Cornelius
Corprew
2006 Assistant Offensive Coordinator
Coach Corprew moved on to Livingston College as a Reciever
Coach and Head Track Coach. He was also accepted into the College Coaches Football Academy.
In Coach Newman's
words, Coach Corprew is a great recruiter and man with high integrity. He helped lead NC Tech offense to becoming
the #1 offense in the country with a 70 point per game average. Coach corprew truely understands college football and
will surly be a head coach on the college level.
Kevin Smith
2006 Defensive Coordinator
Coach Smith moved on to Livingstone University as the Lineback Coach and is now at Fort Valley State University also
as a Lineback Coach.
In Coach Newman's words, Coach Smith has so far been the best Defensive Coordinator we
have had here at NC Tech. We have yet to replace his talents as Defensive Coordinator. He is a man with humility,
loyalty, and knowledge and will one day be a great head coach.
Matthew Vogel
2007 Offensive
Line Coach
Coach Vogel moved on to Mars Hill College as Offensive Line Coach.
In Coach Newman's
words, Coach Vogel lead our offense to one of the best years in rushing at NC Tech. We had two backs to rush for over
1,000 yards. He is the epitamy of a great assistant coach, a man with high integrity, loyalty and humility. He
will be a great head coach one day.
Michael Pinker
2007 Tight End Coach
Coach Pinker has moved on to Findley University in Ohio. He played at Arizona State and has two NFL Europe
World Bowl Championships. In Coach Newman's words, he is very knowlegable in regards to the game and has great potential
to do well.
Tim Smith
2006 Secondary/Special Teams
Coach Smith
moved on to Indiana State University. He is the safeties coach under the defensive coordinator. Prior to working
at NC Tech, he was the cornerbacks coach at Northern State in 2005, where his squad led the NSIC in passing defense. His unit
finished second overall in the league in scoring and yards. Prior to working at NC Tech, he was the cornerbacks coach
at Northern State in 2005, where his squad led the NSIC in passing defense. His unit finished second overall in the league
in scoring and yards. A 2004 graduate of Charleston Southern, Smith started 30-of-35 games at the cornerback and safety
positions. He recorded 155 total tackles, including 28 tackles for loss. He posted six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries,
an interception and a pair of sacks.
Donte Jones
2008 Defensive
Coordinator
Coach Jones moved on to Johnson C. Smith University as the Defensive Backs coach. While at North Carolina
Tech, Coach Jones was the Defensive Coordinator. He had the #2 Defense in the country. Coach Jones Defense gave up 8.5
points per game.
